Review of Trans Man Walking #1 at Women Write About Comics!

“I was empathizing (especially with the comic about hair), recognizing the complicated nature of transphobia and masculinity, and enjoying Santagata’s efficient and cutting punchlines all at once—an incredible range for such a short zine!”

Alenka Figa writes all about TMW #1 at Women Write About Comics! Check out her thorough dissection of the zine, and its debut at Chicago Zine Fest last week, here!

Sorry Mom Comix at Chicago Zine Fest!

czf 2016

Chicago! What are you doing this weekend? Chicago Zine Fest is Friday and Saturday (the 29th and 30th)! There’s a ton of panels, workshops, and, of course, zines on both days, and you can expect Sorry Mom to be there!!

I’m doing a reading at the Exhibitor Reading along with a few other hella rad zinesters on Friday night, right after a fantastic discussion from and about women of color in the zine world! Admission is free, and it’s at Workshop Chicago (935 W Chestnut St Suite 530) from 6:30 to 9:30!

The zine fest exhibition itself – tables! artists! zines and comics for miles! – is on April 30th at Plumbers Union Hall (1340 W Washington Blvd) from 11 AM to 6 PM, and it’s ALSO free! Sorry Mom Comix / I will be at table C09 (that’s C-zero-nine), so if you miss out on the exhibitor reading, I’ll have all of the SMCx zines to date at the booth!

I can’t wait to be in you, Illinois! 😀

Trans Man Walking #1 is Out Now!

snowman1

Holy crap, I’m so excited!! TMW #1 is out at the Sorry Mom Comix store right now! Collecting semi-autobiographical comics about coming out and staying put from January to March of 2016, TMW is a zine in the classic style: Pen and ink, hella personal, and lots of “activity” pages for you to giggle at to your heart’s content.

(TMW #1 also officially enters the wide world of zine circulation at the Chicago Zine Fest on April 29th!! I’ll be doing a reading from TMW #1 at CZF on the night of the 29th as well (along with other totally awesome zinesters), and it’s free (with snacks! and drinks! I hear!), so you should totally come on down!)

If you’re not in Chicago and/or wanna get your hands on the zine before the big launch, skip on over to the SMCx store!

TMW #1 Comes Out in 1 Week (Pun Intended!)

Ready to relive your most uncomfortable experiences as a fellow queer / troublemaker / person who is awkward around their parents? Trans Man Walking #1 comes out here in the Sorry Mom Comix store on Tuesday, April 19th, and makes its real-life debut at the end of the month at Chicago Zine Fest on April 30th!

The buck doesn’t stop there, though – I’m doing a live reading of TMW #1 at the CZF Exhibitor Reading the night before, April 29th, at Workshop Chicago! Both the zine fest and the reading are free, so you should totally come support me / see me make a fool of myself in Chicago on the weekend of the 29th/30th!

TMW #1 is (obviously!) something I’m pretty proud of, and it’s been my first published comic/zine since coming out publically (try saying that five times fast), so it’s near and dear to my heart & I’m pumped to share it!

HEY CHICAGO!

What are you doing the night of April 29th? Is it “coming to a totally sweet exhibitor reading hosted by Chicago Zine Fest wherein you will get to witness me reading my scribblings aloud, in front of people”? And is your answer to “April 30th” going to be “coming to the Chicago Zine Fest at Plumber’s Union Hall all day to spend some quality time at a free-admission zine / comics convention”? Because, you know, I’d really appreciate it!

In addition to the reading and boothin’, I’m going to be debuting Trans Man Walking that weekend at the Fest too, so deeeefinitely bring your ass down and check it out!
